The Repost button is missing — what to check
You open the share sheet and the Repost option is not there. TikTok has published no troubleshooting page for this, so everything below is what users and third-party guides report — ordered from most to least likely to help.
TikTok documents no cause for this. Update the app, open the video from your For You feed, check your account for restrictions, and clear the cache.
None of the causes below come from TikTok. They are the explanations that come up repeatedly and are cheap to test. We have also left out one popular claim — see the end of the page.
Reported causes
- An outdated app. The share sheet changes between versions; an old build may show a different set of options.
- Where you opened the video from. Users report that the option appears for videos in the For You feed and not always from other surfaces such as search or someone's profile.
- A restriction on your account. Accounts with active restrictions can lose some sharing features.
- The video's own settings or status — for example, a video that has been made private or restricted since you saw it.
- A plain glitch — a bad connection or a stale cache.
What to try, in order
- Update TikTok from the App Store.
- Find the same video in your For You feed and open the share sheet there.
- Check your account status in TikTok's settings for any restriction notice.
- Clear TikTok's cache, then restart the app.
- Switch between Wi-Fi and mobile data.
- As a last resort, sign out, reinstall and sign back in.
A claim we did not include
Many guides say creators can switch reposting off for their own videos. We checked TikTok's privacy settings documentation and found no such setting listed. It may exist in some versions or regions; we simply could not confirm it, so it is not on the list above.
